His research revolves around the self-portrait as a medium of transformation. Through painting, he explores the desire to transcend temporality, confronting what he loves and fears, pouring time into surfaces in an attempt to make himself indestructible. His works often operate as disguises – self-portrait as (other…) – creating tensions between memory and identity, permanence and disappearance.
He studied Fine Art at Falmouth College of Arts, graduating with First Class Honours. During his studies, he frequently travelled to Plymouth to be mentored by the idiosyncratic painter Robert Lenkiewicz, whose influence shaped his interest in colour modulation through grey and introduced him to occult literature and visual culture.
He has exhibited internationally and received numerous recognitions, including the Peter Spicer Award for Excellence in Creative Arts, the Premio de Pintura Focus-Abengoa (Seville), the Hauser & Wirth Prize (Somerset), and the Alfa Romeo Award Art (Madrid). His works are included in several public and private collections, such as the University of the Arts London, the Focus-Abengoa Foundation (Seville), the Stedelijk Museum (Amsterdam), the Wellcome Collection (London), and the British Council Collection (UK).
