Roberto Amoroso

βˆ™ πŸ—“οΈ 1979, Naples βˆ™ πŸ“ Lives and works

His work draws from a hybrid repertoire of media, virtual and real images. His practice incorporates a variety of symbolic elements to develop grafts between human, animal, and cyborg bodies. His artistic research focuses on identity as an ever-unfinished process that interacts with the alterities of virtual and digital worlds. Within this framework, Amoroso breaks not only with the separation between everyday and virtual spaces, but also with classical dichotomies. Digital art becomes a privileged site for dismantling binary oppositions – such as human vs. animal (through the ethno-religious language of theriomorphism), and male vs. female – by means of a queer artistic approach and cyberfeminist reflection.
He has participated in numerous exhibitions of national and international relevance, including SPOT2 – Piece of my Art, curated by Eugenio Viola and Adriana Rispoli, Museo Madre, Naples (2009); 10th Biennal of Miniature Art, Cultural Centre in Gornji Milanovac, Republic of Serbia (2010); Amorosoteofilo, Annarumma Gallery, Naples (2011); Campania Pavilion at the 54th Venice Biennale, curated by Vittorio Sgarbi (2011); Premio Cairo, curated by Luca Beatrice, Permanente di Milano, Milan (2011); Kunstform der Nature 2.0, curated by Mihael Milunovic, Parobrod, Belgrade (2013); The Human Behaviour, Mars, Milan (2014); I.P.
